Joy in the Morning Series (Mayne)

Joy in the Morning. Nine-week series on Wednesdays, from January 10 to March 7. Based on ‘The Book of Joy’ by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. Each session will be comprised of study, silent meditation, and group reflection. From 9:00 am to 10:00 am, in the Galiano Library.

January and February can often be the most challenging months in the year. The holidays are over. It is dark and cold. Here you are on Mayne when everyone else has escaped to Mexico. This seems a perfect time to focus on the theme of Joy.
Joy is a universal energy that transcends personal and often fleeting happiness. So even if you feel miserable, joy can still be available.
“I am offering a 9 week series on Wednesday mornings from January 10th to March 7th, 9 – 10 am in the Galiano Island Library. Using ‘The Book of Joy’ by the Dalai Lama and Desmund Tutu as a guide, we will explore the 8 pillars of Joy that they have identified. The book will be available for sale at the first session, or it can be borrowed from the Mayne Island Library. Each session will be comprised of an introduction, a period of silent meditation, and then a group reflection. If you have never meditated, this may be a good opportunity to try it. The group will be limited to 10 participants in order to provide intimacy. I will be your guide on this fearless journey. My qualifications are: a willingness lead and a 30 year mediation practice.
