In addition to skills like food growing and sustainable energy use, Heartwood intends to include traditional arts and crafts, such as the beautiful and practical art of knitting! Besides Pender Island experts such as the Knit Wits and others, there are some local Coast Salish folks who remember all about this.
We are honoured that for the very first set of classes under our new Heartwood Folk School name… Joni, Adam and Sylvia Olsen of the Tsartlip First Nation are coming to Pender! This is for a special March 22, 2014 Knitting & Wool Learning Day. See here for more (as well the beautiful creation worn by Joni below).
